Winner of the Melbourne Design Award 2013 for Graphic Design in the Environment.

Federation Square launched its Outdoor Comfort Zones with a range of furniture products, designed and produced by Falinc. Inspired by the brief to bring an organic feel to the Square, we developed the design theme 'The Australian Rock Garden’ — the concept of plants and foliage sprouting from the rocky ground of Federation Square. Illustrations are based on Australian flora; with the colour palette of the Australian landscape – the desert, eucalyptus and blackbox natives. The designs were developed over deckchairs, umbrellas, cushions, directors chairs, and 6 metre long furniture storage units. The two storage units, which are permanent fixtures in the square, are used to house the furniture overnight.
